The only way to ward off the ghosts is to capture them with the camera obscura. These memories take players deeper down secret mountain trails, but what to expect are evil spirits who want you to join them in the world of the dead. The protagonists have a force called shadow reading that allows them to feel the remnants of memories of people who disappeared on the mountain. The story is divided into separate missions and each mission is led by a new protagonist. Players use Camera Obscura, a special camera that can ward off vengeful ghosts and seal their powers, to explore Mount Hikami and the numerous incidents that have occurred there in the past. This mysterious and intertwined story follows three protagonists – Yuri Kozukata, Miu Hinasaki, and Ren Hojo – as each of them explores the ominous Mount Hikami, a place where many died and the secrets it hides. It was home to a unique religion based on the beliefs and customs of worshiping water as a deity and is believed to have been the site of many gruesome incidents and mysterious phenomena.
Hikami was once revered as a spiritual place. “FATAL FRAME / PROJECT ZERO: Maiden of Black Water” is coming to Steam for the first time to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the horror adventure series FATAL FRAME / PROJECT ZERO.
